Townsville City Council will get a deeper insight into its infrastructure charges after the cutting edge software, Novoplan, went live this week. Townsville is the first local government to adopt the Novoplan software to administer infrastructure charging and reporting.
The software, developed by PIE Solutions, allows users to more easily and efficiently track and report on infrastructure charges.
By implementing the Novoplan software, Townsville City Council will have a much clearer view of the $15 million in infrastructure charges it levies each year. Novoplan project director Dr Alison Wolfenden said PIE Solutions had been working on the software for four years. “It’s very pleasing to go live with our first customer,’’ Dr Wolfenden said. “Townsville’s project team have been great to work with and are a key reason the project was able to be delivered on time and on budget.’’
Novoplan dramatically reduces the time required to calculate infrastructure charges and track payments, and helps guide council’s expenditure on essential infrastructure. It also provides essential data on development activity, allowing local government and utilities to be more responsive to infrastructure needs.
